Crafting with friends!

We had a little crafting get together! I showed the gals how to make needle felted animals, and Amy showed us how to make these felt flower buttons! We were also going to do a paper mache project, but the hour was late and the wine was kicking in!

Lemon Poppyseed cake

I've been pretty excited to try this recipe from SmittenKitchen. It came out pretty good. It's definitely not too sweet, but I'd call it more of a bread than a cake! If I make this again I'll make some sort of lemon glaze to bring some more citrus; I felt like the lemon zest wasn't quite enough zing. The crunch of all those poppyseeds is divine. Don't eat this before a drug test!

Moo helped.

Little Monsters

I was lucky enough to go to a Lady Gaga show! This was hands down the best show I've ever been to. The production of this show was outstanding. The graphics that went along with each song were just perfect and never distracting from the music and dancing. Especially during "Teeth" the graphics were right on...a gritty, snarling greyscale wolf in the background snarling over and over again...yeah!

We were crazy close..I put a red dot on the seating chart where we were....yeah, P.Diddy was BEHIND us! Best night ever.

Figures

I've been meaning to do more figure drawing..might be time to go back to some sessions.

Rosemary Olive Focaccia

I am shamelessly stuffing my face with this right now because it's so good! This recipe did require a lot of babysitting as it proofed and rose and rested, but it was totally worth it! One modification I did was to omit the salt in the dough and sprinkle the top of the bread with course sea salt. I love that crunch it gets. I cant wait to put some tomato and turkey on this for my lunch tomorrow!

Oreos!

This recipe from "Food Network Magazine" has been in my "to make" pile for a while. The recipe was really easy. The cookies were a dead ringer for the real thing. The cream is VERY rich and I think if I were to make this again I would use less of it. I also rolled some in red sugar for valentines day. Yum!

This would be a great recipe to modify..you could swap out mint extract for the vanilla in the filling and add some green food coloring to make Mint-O's.

IF: Confined part 2

I couldn't resist also doing this little cat confined in a castle!

IF: Confined

We took a trip to the beaches of New Hampshire when I was a kid. Here's a little crab that I caught on the beach. I put him in a jar of sand by my bedside table at the hotel. The sad part of this story is that the crab was dead when I woke up the next morning. At least he can live on in this drawing!

Some things..

CameraBag

I recently bought the CameraBag iPhone app and it is awesome! It applies a bunch of effects to your photos. I could've achieved the same effect with some tlc in Photoshop, but this is just so much quicker and fun. The Helga filter is my favorite. Here are the effects on some of my favorite photos from Belize:

Fun winter project

reblogged from here. I would love to do this little project..it's so sweet and would look adorable on window sill. Unfortunately I have such a black thumb that two cacti have perished at my hands. This would simply be death on a smaller scale! If you have a green thumb do it!

2010 res: eat more veggies!

I made this awesome veggie casserole...I discovered that I really like turnips!
